Its human homolog, Upstream transcription factor 1 (USF1), is a key regulator of genes involved in lipid homeostasis and USF1 mutations are strongly correlated with hyperlipidemia (Auer et al., 2012; Di Taranto et al., 2015; Laurila et al., 2016; Naukkarinen et al., 2006; Pajukanta et al., 2004).
