First, if the PG secretes more pro-apoptotic miRNAs (e.g. Bcl-2-inhibiting miRNAs), this will decrease the chance of developing cancer but increase the chances of developing neuro- and other degenerative diseases, and vice versa; higher levels of anti-apoptotic miRNAs stimulate cancer development but decrease the chance of developing AD.
