This is consistent with published data that equates high levels of methylation across the WT1 gene in triple-negative breast cancers with elevated levels of expression and poor survival.50,51 It should be reiterated, however, that the higher expression of WT1 in triple-negative cancers was not due to increased expression in the vascular endothelium. The gene discussed is WT1; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
