Our finding of higher expression of HPV E6/E7 oncogenes in CSCs was also corroborates our recent report by Tyagi et al, (2016) which show higher expression of E6 specifically in cervical cancer stem cells that has been shown to control stemness and self-renewal through upregulation of HES1 as CSCs are more permissive to HPV infection. Here, HES1 is linked to cervical carcinoma.
