IL1RAP and sickle cell disease: A previous report showed that a higher expression level of IL1RAP was associated with increased neutrophil counts in the airways of asthmatic patients, suggesting enhanced neutrophilic inflammation.31 The expression level of IL1RAP is likely associated with uterine sensitivity to IL‐1 during late gestation and delivery.32 IL1RAP is abnormally up‐regulated in the placentas of pregnant women with sickle cell anaemia [33].
