However, in line with the results of the present study, the candidate gene ABCB1 was identified as a possible effect modifier of statins on breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women via another SNP (rs9282564) near ABCB1 (37).With respect to the endpoint overall survival, it would have been of interest to also study death due to cardiovascular events to get a more comprehensive picture, but this was outside the scoop of this study.
