The COX7B gene is involved in the metabolism of the cell which indicate that sensitivity or resistance of tumors to neoadjuvant chemotherapy are not only dependent on apoptotic pathways and cell cycle regulation, but that other biologic processes also are required.43 Interestingly, COX7B is involved in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, which carries out oxidative phosphorylation.44 This fact may suggest that a disturbed redox homeostasis is involved in the CDDP resistance of cancer cells. The gene discussed is COX7B; the disease is cancer.
