Interestingly, it has been observed that obesity is associated with release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6, IL-1, and TNF, which turn activate the same NF-κB pathway downstream, thus highlighting the possibility that gut inflammation and obesity-derived inflammation may converge in a pro-carcinogenic signaling inside the cells [77].
