GFAP and neoplasm: Some defined features of LGG include elongated cells, honeycomb patterns with absence of perinuclear staining, absence of mitotic figures, presence of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and calcification, mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase gene (IDH1) [12], layers of tumor cells surrounding blood vessels forming pseudo-papillary structures and presence of perivascular pseudo-rosettes [6,8,13].
