ACE and cardiovascular disorder: Studies with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) haveproved the benefit of this class of drugs on ventricular remodeling, showingalso a reduction of 20% in cardiovascular events.20,21 A meta-analysis of more than 30,000 patientsdemonstrated a protective effect of ACE inhibitors against ischemic events, evenin patients without ventricular dysfunction.22 Currently, several guidelines acknowledge the role ofthese drugs in preventing cardiovascular disease.23-25
