A number HIF PHD inhibitors have been applied in ischaemic stroke models either in vivo or in vitro, where these compounds (GSK360A, FG4497, FG2216, DMOG, and DFO) offered neuroprotection (Li et al., 2008; Nagel et al., 2011; Zhao and Rempe, 2011; Ogle et al., 2012; Chen et al., 2014; Reisch et al., 2014; Zhou J. et al., 2017).
