In contrast, a recent meta-analysis demonstrated a (not statistically significant) trend towards increased risk of breast cancer under contraceptive use in both BRCA1 (OR = 1.19; 95% CI, 0.92–1.55) and BRCA2 carriers (OR = 1.21; 95% CI, 0.93–1.58) compared to the general population (OR≈1.08) [58•].
