Methylation of ASCL1, LHX8, and ST6GALNAC5, as found in cervical cancer, has also been detected in oral cancer (ASCL1) [43], colorectal cancer (ASCL1 and ST6GALNAC5) [44,45], and breast cancer (LHX8) [46], suggesting a tumour suppressive role of these genes in these cancers. The gene discussed is LHX8; the disease is breast carcinoma.
