Briefly, CDKNA methylation has been associated with increased SETDB1 expression and consequently uncontrolled tumor cell proliferation (Zhao et al., 2016) and the well-recognized MLH1 promoter hypermethylation in colorectal cancers seems to result from increased H3K9me3 levels through LSD1 activity, which consequently favors the glycolytic metabolism in hypoxic conditions (Lu et al., 2014).
