The BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations are primarily responsible for hereditary breast cancer.28 Despite years of research, it has been shown that a minority of patients with a personal or family history of breast cancer have a genetic mutation as an identifiable cause.17 Our study is consistent with the global literature, as we found a positive association of family history with development of the disease (p = 0.004). Here, BRCA2 is linked to breast cancer.
