An Indian study revealed that the frequency of T-allele of MMP-9–1562 C/T promoter polymorphism was found to be predominant in breast cancer group compared with controls, with a 1.44 folds increased risk for breast cancer.19 Merdad et al20 showed that MMP-9 is a reliable potential candidate diagnostic biomarker and drug target in breast cancer.
