Dietary fiber-induced resistance to diet-induced obesity in this study is potentially mediated by the hormone adropin, as indicated by the liver specific increased levels of Enho. Additionally, improved gut barrier function, characterised by regulation of Tex19. 1 and altered mucins, claudins and epithelial solute transporters is associated with reduced expression of markers of inflammation and accumulation of fat in liver. The gene discussed is ENHO; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
