Relevant genes on chromosome 3p were: CTNNB1, CAND2, VHL, MIFT, WNT7A, PDCD6IP, TGFBR2, PRKCD, and MST1. Relevant genes on chromosome 9q were: LMX1B, GOLGA2, HSPA5, LCN2, RAD23B, TLR4, KLF4, and NOTCH1. The protein products of these genes are involved in cancer activation pathways like WNT, mTOR, HIF-1alpha, renal cell carcinoma, and p53 signaling, regulation of epithelial to mesenchymal transition, and neuroinflammation signaling (Additional file 1). This evidence concerns the gene VHL and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
