Some studies showed that FOXA2 activates lipid metabolism and ketogenesis in the liver during fasting and is inhibited by insulin‐PI3K‐Akt signaling mediated by phosphorylation at Thr156 and nuclear exclusion, not only during feeding, but also in hyperinsulinemic ob/ob or db/db mice and in animals with diet‐induced obesity 15, 29. The gene discussed is FOXA2; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
