Although inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin signaling could explain the induction of cell death by SFN [23, 24], there might be contributions via other mechanism(s), like e.g. SFN-induced apoptosis via increased Erk1/2 phosphorylation, which was reported for non-small cell lung cancer cells [25].
