The expression of aldo-keto reductase (AKR) family genes, including those for AKR1C1 and AKR1C2, which contribute to the detoxification of lipid peroxidation products, was recently shown to be markedly increased in an established erastin-resistant clone of DU-145 human prostate cancer cells [30]. This evidence concerns the gene AKR1C2 and prostate cancer.
