CYP27A1 and breast neoplasm: Finally, to identify a possible correlation between increased tumor-infiltrating neutrophils and oxysterol content in human breast tumors, we interrogated 3661 primary breast tumor samples, and we found a significant direct correlation between the expression of transcripts identifying a neutrophil signature and the expression of transcripts for CYP27A1, which encodes the oxysterol 27-HC (r = 0.208; p < 0.0001) (Figure 6H).
