Since lactate is metabolized to bicarbonate in the liver, lactated Ringer's solution was successfully used to lessen the metabolic acidosis by elevating blood bicarbonate levels and to attenuate the systemic inflammation response as assessed by lower C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with AP (Wu et al., 2011; de-Madaria et al., 2018).
