Comparing the results of glycine supplementation with studies using low intensity laser therapy in the treatment of oral mucositis induced by chemotherapy, similar results were observed, i.e., accelerated tissue repair, elevated expression of type I collagen, and Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 reduction, and of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), promoting the faster healing of oral mucositis lesions [36]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is oral mucositis.
