To avoid this problem, Kuske et al combined three different methods for the detection of CTCs before and after prostatectomy in non metastatic patients with PC, CellSearch system assay, CellCollector (a system capturing EpCAM-positive CTCs by an antibody-coated needle introduced in arm vein) and EPISPOT (a system able to enrich CTCs by negative depletion of leukocytes and detects circulating prostate cancer cells thanks to their active secretion of PSA) (45). The gene discussed is KLK3; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
