Examining the liver tissue sections from 12 months-old mice in detail revealed that wild-type mice contained about 40% area with normal liver structures, 10% with encircled tumor foci and 50% area with typical HCC trabecular structure, while RASSF1A−/− mice contained only 10% area with encircled tumor foci and small portion of normal liver structure, 65% typical HCC trabecular structure and 25% highly distorted liver structures (Fig. 1j). Here, RASSF1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
