In diabetic nephropathy, elevated expression of renal NADPH oxidase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) resulted in oxidative stress with elevated lipid peroxidation which was inhibited following treatment with an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi) or an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) agent in rat models [13]. This evidence concerns the gene FMO5 and diabetic kidney disease.
