A divergent role for the NLRP3 inflammasome in CD4+ and CD8+ T cells is further supported by our finding that CD8+ T cells from patients with CAPS, a series of autoinflammatory diseases with gain of function NLRP3 gene mutations23 (Supplementary Table 3), functioned normally. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome.
