To determine if alterations in p-AKT occur in vivo, following lapatinib treatment, we examined changes in p-AKT levels post-treatment (14-days) in HER2-amplified breast cancers from patients treated with pre-operative lapatinib versus trastuzumab versus both, without chemotherapy for 14 days in the LPT1090906 neoadjuvant clinical trial (NCT00524303) [18]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and breast cancer.
