OX40L+CD11b+CD11c+ DCs have been identified in various autoimmune contexts such as in the pancreatic lymph nodes of NOD mice around the time of diabetes onset26, and in the inflamed kidneys of Lupus patients27, which suggested a role for OX40L in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. The gene discussed is TNFSF4; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
