CRP and cancer: In the multivariate analysis, adjusted for age, sex, BMI, underlying disease, and APACHE II score, APACHE II score (odds ratio (OR) = 1.06, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.042–1.079, p < 0.001), history of cancer (OR = 1.595, 95% CI = 1.04–2.30, p = 0.012), and CRP/albumin ratio (OR = 1.01, 95% CI = 1.00–1.02, p = 0.001) were independent predictors of 28-day mortality (Table 2).
