CBLN1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Interestingly, Cer(d18:1/18:0) and its precursor Cer(d18:0/18:0) have been associated with the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.22–24 Taken together, these alterations to the lipid profile and other metabolic changes, such as increase of ketone bodies,8 suggest that the metabolic profile of ovarian cancer patients resemble a diabetic phenotype.
