Aligned with the computationally predicted interaction between microRNA and lncRNA in our bioinformatics analysis, a very strong correlation between the expression profile of GAS5 and miR-34a was detected in RCC samples [r = -0.949, p < 0.001] and a moderate negative correlation was observed between levels of GAS5 and miR-34a in GB [r = -0.518, p < 0.001] and HCC [r = -0.455, p = 0.013] (Fig 4). This evidence concerns the gene GAS5 and renal cell carcinoma.
