Therapeutically, the inhibition of PARP1 has been exploited in tumors with deficiencies in homologous recombination repair mechanisms and the FDA‐approved PARP1 inhibitor olaparib (Lynparza) is used in clinical trials in patients with advanced breast and ovarian tumors and germline BRCA1/2 mutations (Bryant et al., 2005; Farmer et al., 2005). The gene discussed is PARP1; the disease is ovarian neoplasm.
