Notably, knockdown of Bax (Supplementary information, Fig. S5a) not only abolished the CCCP/iron-induced mitochondrial aggregation (Fig. 5c), cytochrome c release to cytosol (Fig. 5d) and caspase-3/9 cleavage (Fig. 5e), but also suppressed melanoma cell death (Fig. 5f) and pyroptosis (Fig. 5g). The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is melanoma.
