As reported in T cells, one possibility is that in p53-mutant or p53-null MM cells, Gfi1 interacts directly with ETS1 to repress the BAX gene through adjacent DNA binding sites [47] or that Gfi-1 interacts with PIAS3 to relieve its inhibitory effect on STAT3 activity [48].
