Although multiple SNPs in EphA2 are most commonly linked with congenital cataracts (Shiels et al., 2008), the EphA2 gene locus is associated with premature myocardial infarction in humans and susceptibility to atherosclerosis in mice (Sulman et al., 1997; Wang et al., 2004). The gene discussed is EPHA2; the disease is atherosclerosis.
