Interestingly, ILF abnormalities have been consistently identified, and a recent study based on DTI and machine-learning classification (a support vector machine) not only confirmed that the ILF is one of the most affected tracts in 22q11.2 syndrome but also showed that the ILF’s DTI parameters are correlated with prodromal symptoms of psychosis; this suggests that disruption of the tract may increase the likelihood of developing schizophrenia-like disorders (Tylee et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene FOXK2 and psychotic disorder.
