Various studies have focused on the use of anti-diabetic therapies with different mechanisms of action for NAFLD, including metformin, thiazolidinediones (TZDs), glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1r) agonists, dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitors, and sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors (Table 1). The gene discussed is DPP4; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
