Since the hippocampus is an area of the brain that exhibits neurodegeneration in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and AD [30,31], we examined the hippocampus of experimental and control mice for inflammation by assessing the expression of the proinflammatory cytokines IL6, IL1β and TNFα by RT-PCR and IF microscopy. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and Alzheimer disease.
