In contrast to these autism-risk ZBTB20 variants, expression of A620V led to neurons with reduced apical arborization between 300–400 μm from the soma compared to ZBTB20-WT-expressing neurons (P < 0.05) and enhanced basal arborization 75–125 μm from the soma compared to ZBTB20-WT (P < 0.01) (Fig 3J). The gene discussed is ZBTB20; the disease is autism.
