An additional anti-apoptotic action of BAG3 is mediated by its competition with BAG1 that positively cooperates with Hsp70 and CHIP (C-terminus of the Hsc70-interacting protein) to direct proteolytic substrates to the proteasome, resulting in the protection of IKK-γ from proteasome delivery and thus sustaining NF-kB activation and cell survival in osteosarcoma and melanoma cells [42]. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and melanoma.
