We followed this up with an animal model to assess wound closure, and focused on a specific long noncoding (lnc) RNA, MALAT1 (metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1), which modulated healing in a model of traumatic brain injury (TBI).8 Exosomes, specific nanovesicles secreted by stem cells, were isolated to demonstrate the ability of secreted stem cell factors in exosomes to increase cell migration. This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and brain injury.
