Furthermore, we have shown in murine models of chronic alcoholic liver disease (30, 47) as well as in a choline deficient amino acid defined (CDAA) diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) (Maricic et al. submitted manuscript) that direct inhibition of iNKT cells by blocking the RARγ-signaling pathway or by anti-CD1d blocking antibody suppresses disease. This evidence concerns the gene CD1D and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
