LGALS1 and Patent ductus arteriosus: These data indicate that measuring Gal-1 levels in patient plasma presents a novel independent biomarker for PDA detection, and that Gal-1 could be used as a complementary blood marker in PDA diagnosis; notably, combining Gal-1 and CA19-9 detection could drastically decrease cases of false-negative diagnoses of PDA after an initial CA19-9 test.
