MAPT and Parkinson disease: Human Tau-induced nerve cell dysfunction and degeneration were previously studied in Drosophila. Models were created by expression of human wild-type Tau or Tau with frontotemporal dementia and Parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17 mutations (Ali et al., 2012, Shulman and Feany, 2003, Wittmann et al., 2001).
