MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease: It should be noted that although white matter changes were detected subsequent to amyloid and tau pathology in the current study, it is still possible that age-related cerebrovascular pathology may precede primary Alzheimer’s disease pathology (Iturria-Medina et al., 2016) and contribute to white matter changes to a stronger degree in subjects with sporadic Alzheimer’s disease compared to the relatively young subjects with autosomal-dominant Alzheimer’s disease.
