In the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS), increased intake of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) was associated with reduced dry AMD risk, after adjustment for behavioural factors and genetic variants, including SNPs in CFH, ARMS2/HTRA1, CFB, C2, C3, CFI, and LIPC genes [159]. This evidence concerns the gene CFH and dry age related macular degeneration.
