Importantly, these data correlate well with a recent transcriptomic study performed in non-human primate demonstrating that alloreactive T cells in acute GVHD are specifically characterized by (i) the overexpression of Aurora kinase A, (ii) the upregulation of pathways implicated in proliferation and effector function, and (iii) a Th1-over-Th17-skewed immune response (43). Here, AURKA is linked to acute graft versus host disease.
