The identification of Runx1 and Nanog, two known transcription factors found in skeletal stem cells39–41,53,54, in the same network as both the circadian genes and Ezh2 suggests that hypophosphatemia controls growth through the regulation of the resting zone skeletogenic stem cells that give rise to chondrocytes of the growth plate as well as decreasing the rate of their terminal differentiation and programmed death. This evidence concerns the gene NANOG and hypophosphatemia.
