Al Dhaheri et al. showed that treatment with noncytotoxic concentrations of Origanum majorana extracts inhibits migration and invasion of cells through inactivation of the NFKB pathways [16], while exposure of MDA-MB-231 cells to low concentration of ethanolic extracts (150 and 300 μg/ml) from Origanum majorana triggers the accumulation of apoptotic-resistant population of cells arrested in mitosis and induces an over expression of survivin, an important therapeutic target against breast cancer [17].
